Last semester, my former boss (now colleague) Scott and I started shooting footage of the Borderland Youth Documentary Arts Project, a project started by Texas State Photography professor, Jason Reed. The organization’s mission is "to use creative mediums such as photography and creative writing as a means to add the personal, familial and cultural stories and perspectives of borderland youth to the collective archive of both American and global life."

Today Jason and his interns began installing the exhibit at the gallery in Mitte. I shot some more video.

Click here to see the video we produced last semester for The University Star.

First day of newspaper work. When I got home, I made Lemon Drop Cookies dusted in powdered sugar. The recipe is from Kris Holechek’s Nom Nom Nom Blog / The 100 Best Vegan Baking Recipes: Amazing Cookies, Cakes, Muffins, Pies, Brownies and Breads book. They taste like lemon bars!

Went on a photo adventure. Went to the park. Saw some really amazing
dogs. Ate the Popcorn Tofu Po’boy (it wasn’t as good as I’d hoped.)

Drove back to Austin/San Marcos. Shot basketball for the first time ever for The University Star.

This is Texas State women’s basketball head coach, Suzanne Fox. At a game a few weeks ago, bobcats lost to Baylor by 81 points. She was not happy at the game against UT-Arlington either. Bobcats lost to UT-Arlington 66-60.

My last day in Sugar Land was a cold one. It went below freezing in Sugar Land/Houston. I stayed in all day. One of my activities was sewing lost buttons back on to jackets/shirts,

I don’t understand football very well, but somehow after a semester of shooting all the TxState home games as the primary football photographer for my university newspaper, I’ve come to like it. The competition, the rivalry, how people get all riled up. It’s pretty neat. So even I watched the Rose Bowl game with UT vs. Alabama. Gilbert did fantastic for a freshman!

Irony…I did laundry the same day and happened to wash my sister’s 2006 UT Rose Bowl championship shirt.

Lunch with mom at Tan Tien. I had the Hủ tiếu xào tofu. I’ve missed the authentic Vietnamese/Chinese cuisine from Bellaire. San Marcos "Chinese" food is so Americanized and bland.

Dropped of a ton of recyclables at the recycling center on 90 and Gillingham Lane in Sugar Land. These bottles were not mine though, they were just a lot prettier than my mixed paper.

Looks like I had issues with the lowercase u.

The day was dedicated to cleaning out the closet of my old room. I probably haven’t done so since we moved to Sugar Land about 9 years ago.

My parents never saved any drawings or projects from my cute elementary school days. Sad. However, I happened to find this alphabet worksheet packet from pre-k or kindergarten…looks like I wrote my name backwards many times, erased em, then finally wrote Tina the right way ha.
